Last month, H and AJ took me to Côté Sud for my birthday. This French bistro style restaurant is located in the Castro District of San Francisco. People come here to enjoy French dishes that are made with organic ingredients. For people who love Jazz music, the restaurant offers live Jazz every Thursday night.

Côté Sud offers Early Bird dining for US$21.00 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm everyday, Prix Fixe Menu for US$29.50 and The Chef Testing Menu for US$45.00 with wine pairing (extra US$25.00).

Located on the second floor of an old building, Côté Sud also offer covered patio seating
After studying the menus, AJ and I decided to try the Prix Fixe Menu and H wanted to try the Early Bird Menu …..
The freshly baked French bread was sooooo good ..... soft & chewy inside and crisp outside
Early Bird Menu: Appetizer -- Tarte Provencale / Home made Tomato and goat cheese tart

For people who don't like cheese, especially goat cheese, they would enjoy eating this tart because it did not have that intense cheese flavor

Prix Fixe Menu: appetizer -- Moules Marinières Traditionnelles / Steamed mussels, white wine, shallots & cream

Mussels were fresh and the sauce was rich and creamy

Prix Fixe Menu: appetizer -- Raviolis d'Escargots / Escargots Ravioli lemon butter garlic sauce and spinach

All the ingredients in this dish really compliment with each other. Escargots were very tender and they did not have the grassy taste

Early Bird Menu: Entrée -- Boeuf Bourguignon / Traditional beef stew from Burgundy

This was a simple yet tasty dish. Beef was tender and full of flavors

Prix Fixe Menu: Entrée -- Confit de canard / Duck confit, Dupuy Lentils, garlic cream sauce

Comparing to Chapeau! 's duck confit, Côté Sud's was just an average dish

Prix Fixe Menu: Entrée -- Onglet Grillé / Grilled Hanger Steak, green peppercorn sauce

The sauce was quite good but the steak was a bit over cooked

Early Bird Menu: Dessert -- Moelleux au Chocolat

After cutting open the chocolate cake, the warm chocolate sauce was oozing out from the center of the cake. Surprisingly, this dessert was not as sweet as it looked.
