'A FIVE-STAR RETREAT IN THE BAVARIAN ALPS Blending harmoniously into its natural environs, InterContinental Berchtesgaden Resort lies 1,000 metres (3,281 feet) above sea level on Eckerbichl. Views of the Alps stretch in every direction, with Mount Watzmann striking an impressive pose. Lake Königssee, the historic Dokumentation Obersalzberg and the city of Salzburg are a short drive away. We stayed at this resort soon after its grand opening in the summer of 2005, and really enjoyed the resort as well as the surrounding community of Obersalzberg, and Salzburg is only a short drive away. Southern Bavaria is beautiful with its mountains and pristine lakes, it is beautiful all year round. This is a great resort to spend a few days to recharge and rejuvenate.

Artist rendition of the indoor portion of the heated pools.
The indoor pool with wide walk-down steps are heated to 28°C
Children area allowed in the pool area until 6pm.
Pool-side lounge chairs for you to relax after an leisurely swim.
A water exit through automatic glass doors lead to the heated pool outside.
The depth of the pool is 1.35 meters, a little over four feet deep.
I believe this is the outdoor jacuzzi, but we did not use it during our stay. the upper right hand corner of this picture is the balcony of our presidential suite.
Alex and Huey taking a deep in the outdoor pool, with the Eagle's Nest slightly off to the right of this picture.
The pool is built to mimic nature as much as possible, trying to give a feeling you are actually in a natural pond surrounded by pebbles and grassy lawn.
The pool is shallow enough that younger children could frolic with minimal supervision.
After having fun the pools, it is time for spa treatment and relaxation.
Canopy day-beds are set up around the indoor pool area.
Huey is pretending that he is actually working by reading a business magazine, at least he is not holding it upside down.
