| When we are visiting Shanghai and staying in Pudong, the InterContinental is our preferred choice of hotel. It is convenient, and have quick access to the tunnel to cross over to Puxi side under the Huangpu River. The Intercontinental has been undergoing renovation to many of their rooms and suites. For this stay during the Christmas holiday in 2008, we checked in at the Executive Lounge, and the attendant escorted us to look at our choice of suites, either the original more formal layout with one bedroom, or the renovated suite with an open floor plan. We saw the old version first, and as soon as we stepped into the renovated suite, we immediately decided to take the new suite instead. On this stay, we booked the Luxury Weekend rate which includes breakfast for two adults. |

| xx18 rooms are the Business Suites, our renovated suite is on the 18th floor. Our room number 1818 is a very lucky in Chinese, as the number '8' means wealth. As shown on the floor plan, this suite is about twice the size of the standard rooms, and just about the same size as the panoramic suite at 1801. |

| We had a choice of the original Business suite with a separate bedroom, or this renovated Business suite with an open floor plan. |

| The wall separating the bedroom has been removed, opening up the living space tremendously. In the middle of the space is a LCD TV in a swivel mount, allowing the LCD TV to be viewed either in bed or from the living room. The large full-height windows also adds to the spaciousness feel of this renovated suite. |

| A small walk-in closet with double doors is just around the corner from the coffee and tea station. |
