| At the end of our holiday in Shanghai, the three of us took three different routing to return to the US. Our son Alex took the most direct routing, flying United Airlines from Shanghai non-stop to San Francisco in First Class. UA First Class passengers are invited to use Shanghai Airlines' First Class lounge, instead of the previous All Nippon Airways lounge in Shanghai. |

| This Shanghai Airlines lounge is located very close to the United departure gate, and is a quick elevator ride up one floor. It appears that other Star Alliance airlines also use this lounge for their premium class passengers. |

| The lounge is quite spacious, especially with the open ceiling and plenty of windows. |
|
 |
| Support beams and truss are integrated into the deco of the lounge. |
|
 |
| For those whom love plan-spotting, you have a good view of the tarmac from the lounge. |
|
 |
| The lounge is quite empty during this time, perhaps due to the Christmas holidays and the world-wide economic down-turn. |
|
|

| Plenty of self-service alcohol available at the drink station. |
|
 |
| Fresh fruit and pastry are laid out for passengers's enjoyment. |
|
 |
| Soft drinks and juices are available in the self service refrigerator. |
|
 |
| Danishes, muffins, and pastries, along with smoked salmon and assorted cheeses. |
|
 |
| Individual servings of fried rice and noodles are also available. |
|
|
|
|
 |
| Plenty of various bite size sandwiches are also available. |
|
 |
| Rolled up smoked salmon on pumpernickel bread, yum yum! |
